Synopsis

As a Legal Advisor you will support to the senior members of the litigation department and advise Etihad Airways Group, its businesses, departments and functions, ensuring proper counsel on matters which are of low to medium complexity or risk, requiring legal judgment and experience globally. 

Accountabilities

  • Undertake legal analysis and research related to topics of generally medium to high complexity and/or risk to support department/function/business in the management of standard legal practice areas

  • Review documents and analysis drafted by paralegals or contract administrators to ensure that it is accurate and consistently applies policies, procedures, standard operating practices and that legal risk mitigation and compliance with law and regulation is appropriately dealt with.

  • Provide full suite of legal services and documents to the assigned department/function/business to ensure that Etihad's best interests are served and the legal risk and compliance is appropriately dealt with.

  • Review standard documents drafted by the assigned function/department to ensure compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.

  • Assist senior team members in the management of complex legal issues to ensure they are managed in a timely and proper manner.

  • Assist senior team members in developing recommendations and point of view documents regarding specific areas of expertise to provide insight for an effective decision making.

  • Report to senior management in relation to potential legal risks to ensure effective decision making to reduce legal risk exposure and secure best possible results for Etihad.

  • Assist senior team members in proposing mitigation options to ensure the appropriate management of legal risk.

  • Assist in providing input on key decisions and actions being undertaken in the area of legal management to ensure Etihad's best interests are served.

  • Refer work of higher complexity or risk to supervisor in order to maintain accurate and consistent application of policies, procedures, standard operating practices and validation that legal risk mitigation and compliance with law and regulation are appropriately dealt with.

  • Supervise the activities and work of junior team members to ensure assigned work is accurate and consistently applies policies, procedures, standard operating practices and that legal risk mitigation and compliance with law and regulation is appropriately dealt with.

  • Take decisions related to the day-to-day running of own practice (Operational decision-maker)

 

Education & Experience

  • Law Degree or Paralegal certification

  • Minimum of 5 years of work within relevant field.

  • Experience as practicing lawyer in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.

  • Be fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English;
